Credit Cards, Debit Cards, Food Stamps & Tokens
By using the People's Market token-exchange system, vendors can accept payments from credit & debit cards.

Customers and vendors delight in the People's Market token-exchange system. Here is how it works:
- Customers bring their credit / debit / or Horizon card to the central, People's Market booth
- Using a battery-powered, wireless credit card machine, People's Market will authorize the card in a whole dollar amount
- People's Market gives an equivalent amount of tokens to customers to spend as cash
- Customers use tokens to purchase lunch food, artisan creations, fresh produce, or packaged foods
- Vendors accept tokens like cash and make change when necessary
- At the end of the day, vendors return to the main People's Market booth to exchange their tokens for cash (minus a 5% processing fee from the bank)
Note: Horizon card tokens can only be used for farmer food and packaged food
The People's Market token-exchange system is in place thanks to the generosity of the People's Market board of directors. It has been in place since 2007. In 2010, People's Market will dollar-for-dollar match any Horizon card usage at the market. If you take out $5 on your Horizon card, People's Market will add another $5 to enable you to feed your family $10 worth of farm fresh produce.
